Birth Doulas

Our primary goal at Lighthouse Doulas is to provide security from conception through the 4th trimester. Your birth doula will provide flawless physical, mental, and emotional support throughout your pregnancy, and especially during your labor and delivery. You will attune together on what your birth preferences look like in terms of comfort measures and management, environment, golden hour, and postpartum support.

We carefully select doulas with both Certified Elite birth and postpartum credentials so that a relationship of mutual trust and respect can develop over the months leading into birth and postpartum care.

As pioneers in the industry, we have listened to countless clients who say that their birth experience was beautiful, but that they felt underprepared for the immediate demands of home life. This is where the Lighthouse advantage is different. Your birth package also includes 24 hours of postpartum care, in addition to the following:

  • Unlimited text support from the day your contract is signed throughout the birth of your baby

  • Nursery/registry set-up

  • One prenatal consult @34 weeks

  • One postpartum consult @ 7-10 days postpartum

  • Three newborn shifts of 8 hours each to use within the first 5 days home

  • 12-hour contract birth support (additional hours invoiced at $30 per hour and must be paid prior to postpartum shift)

Your pregnancy and birthing experience is likely a memory that you will carry for a lifetime. The comprehensive physical, mental and emotional support that your Lighthouse Doula will share from day one will set your heart and mind at ease in the knowledge that you have a consistent source of unbiased, certified support at your side. Lighthouse Doulas never overshadow your partner; in fact, we are there to calmly coach as they emerge as your greatest advocate. Our goal is to empower you both during a day marked by your remarkable strength and determination.

Lighthouse Doulas have deep respect for West Michigan providers and birthing facilities; in fact, we are often recommended by providers because of the way we cohesively work together, ultimately enhancing your birthing experience. A common misconception is that doulas are only for “certain kinds of people or births.” Well, if that means first-time birthing folks, seasoned parents, VBAC folks, C-section friends, unmedicated preferences, medicated preferences, loud or quiet voices, big or small bodies, then you are our kind of people. Our goal is that your birthing experience is ultimately one where you feel heard and seen, respected and comforted, and safe and supported each step of the way, from the day you sign your contract until your new family has transitioned home from the hospital.
