Our Mission
Lighthouse Doulas of West Michigan nurtures infants and their families by coaching and guiding new parents in proven methods of newborn care.
Our dedicated, passionate caregivers serve as reliable resources, increase confidence and competence, and navigate alongside new parents through a sea of information.
Using expert training and approachable warmth, Lighthouse Doulas serve as beacons of outstanding support during a uniquely vulnerable and formative time in the life of each family.
Above all, we foster and promote a space of safety, inclusivity, and respect -- and we strive to empower each client with the courage and strength they'll need to navigate their own journey into brave, authentic parenthood.
The Birth of Lighthouse Doulas
Growing up in West Michigan, Jen Reifinger, founder and doula, looked to the lakeshore lighthouses as beacons of safety and security. Several years ago, as Jen built her teaching career and grew her own family, a friend reached out. She was halfway through her maternity leave and was about to return to her medical residency -- and she hired Jen to provide overnight support for her newborn.
As Jen relished her evenings with this beautiful baby, she felt the first ripples of a mission forming.
Over the next several years, Jen brought her calm, nurturing energy to many families of all shapes and sizes. She thrives on the challenge of connecting with new clients, earning their trust, and creating a unique care plan for each family.
For new parents experiencing the choppy waters of sleepless nights and conflicting advice, Jen is a beacon of guidance and respite.
As founder of Lighthouse Doulas, Jen is committed to bolstering postpartum structures of support to West Michigan families with a dynamic, competent team of caregivers. Lighthouse Doulas are recognized as pioneers in the industry, implementing a corporate partnership geared toward working professionals as well as a Beacon Fund that enables underprivileged families, marginalized populations, and teen parents to receive respite and relief, too.
